Welcome to Shoreline
Community College
At Shoreline Community College, our goal is your access. Our faculty and staff strive
to help students reach their educational, career and personal objectives.
Shoreline provides a variety of student services, including services for students with
disabilities. Because educational opportunities are a right for all citizens, we will work
with you to identify and serve any special needs you may have, both inside and outside the
classroom.
The campus has been designed with access in mind. Most of our buildings are one-story;
ramps and electric doors aid mobility-impaired students. Restrooms are generally
accessible and easy to locate.
Several Metro bus routes serve the college. Many buses accommodate wheelchair riders.
Convenient parking is also available.
About Shoreline Community
College
Shoreline Community College, located in north Seattle, offers a variety of associate
degree programs. These include academic courses in preparation for transfer to a four-year
institution as well as vocational career training. Known for the beauty of its campus and
its excellent teaching staff, the college serves more than 7,500 students each quarter.
College services include counseling, orientations, advising, ASSET testing, job placement,
financial aid, day care and food services
Services for Students
with Disabilities
Students with disabilities will find many special services at Shoreline Community
College. Please note: some services may require up to six weeks prior notice.
- Priority registration
- Assistance with administration of exams and other testing accommodations
- Adaptive equipment, such as expanded computer keyboard, visual tech machine, Brailler
and Kurzweil Reader
- Note taking assistance
- Assistance in making classroom accommodations
- Developmental classes and labs which build on basic skills in reading, writing and math
- Tutoring for vocational students
- Assistance in obtaining taped textbooks and interpreters
- Counseling services, including student advocacy, educational advising, career planning,
self-esteem building, personal counseling
- Financial aid and employment placement services for all qualified students regardless of
sex, race, creed, color, age or disability
- Referral for learning disability assessment and interpretation of results

Student Rights and
Responsibilities
- You have a right to services and accommodations which will allow you to successfully
compete on an equal basis with non-disabled students as long as you meet the basic
requirements to perform activities of the program or occupation.
- You are responsible for your success at Shoreline Community College. In order to receive
services, you must request them each quarter they are needed.
- If you are having trouble, you must let us know immediately so we can try to correct the
difficulties. For example, if accommodations are not working in the classroom, contact the
Services for Students with Disabilities office so other arrangements can be made.
- Confidentiality: we will not contact instructors regarding your need for classroom
accommodation unless you have given specific permission for us to do so.
- If you have a grievance, please contact the office for information regarding the appeals
process through the Office of Civil Rights and/or SCC campus process.
