No. You must have a valid
S.C.C. parking permit to park on
any college property owned,
leased or borrowed. This include
the Greenwood lot (Sears lot is
free). Permits are required at
all times M-F. Weekends,
holidays and breaks are free,
but vehicles must be parked
legally to avoid a citation.
Quarterly daytime (valid day
and evening) permits are $15.00*
per quarter. If you have more
than one vehicle, your quarterly
student permit can be
transferred from one vehicle to
another. If you forget your
quarterly permit, you must buy a
daily permit.
Quarterly permits are
purchased at the Cashier's
Office in the FOSS building.
Daily permits are purchased at
the three entrances to campus
(main, east, and west). Daily
permits are purchased from
permit vending machines. Each
machine accepts dollar bills,
dollar coins, quarters, nickels,
and dimes.
Quarterly permits need to
hang from your rearview mirror
facing out. Please read the
instruction sheet that
accompanies your permit. If you
do not have a rearview mirror,
place the permit, with the
number clearly visible, on your
dash. Daily permits must be
displayed right side up on your
dashboard with the date visible.
You can park in any student
parking lot with a valid parking
permit, including the Greenwood
Lot. The Sears Shuttle lot
(located off 160th) is free, and
a free shuttle will take
students to and from the campus
(see #8 below).
NO. This lot is divided into
different sections.* One
portion is for disabled parking,
another is for visitors
(non-students), and there is a
small motorcycle parking area.
The only time students are
allowed to park in the visitor
lot is if they are riding a
motorcycle (park in motorcycle
section only) or when they have
a valid state disabled placard
or license plate and a valid
S.C.C. permit (park in disabled
space only).
You can park in the staff
lots AFTER 4pm. Not before. You
must have a valid SCC permit.
The SCC Shuttle is a bus/van
service that picks up at the
Sears lot and drops off near the
1000 building and the 1900
building on campus. The shuttle
also returns riders back to the
Sears lot after class. The
shuttle runs from 8:00am to
4:00pm Monday through Thursday
and 8am to 2pm on Friday.* It
does not run during holidays,
school breaks, or finals week.
Carpool parking is for those
students who carpool with at
least one other registered
student and have morning classes
between 7am and 11am at least 3
days a week. This carpool
parking is free* but has several
stipulations. There are only
100* carpool permits issued
during fall, winter and spring
quarters. 50* carpool permits
are issued summer quarter. The
security office issues carpool
permits the last week of the
current quarter for the
following quarter (fall for
winter, winter for spring,
etc.*) except for fall quarter.
Fall quarter permits are issued
starting the first two weeks
before fall quarter. They are
given on a first come, first
served basis. At least two
people must come to apply for
the permit in person. Students
using carpool permits can only
park at the Sears shuttle lot or
the Greenwood Lot. Vehicles
parked on the main campus with a
carpool permit will be cited.
The only exception is vehicles
with a valid state disabled
placard or license plate. There
must be two or more people in
the vehicle when parking.
Drivers parking alone will be
cited and have the carpool
permit taken away. Carpool
permits are issued in the
Security office, room 5102.
If you are not a student or
employee, you can park in the
visitor lot for up to 2 hours
without a permit. If you will be
longer than 2 hours, you must go
to the 1000 building Information
Desk, where you can obtain a
free permit for the day.
Visitors are people who are here
as guest speakers or to help in
a classroom or are here for
meetings, interviews, to
register, or to meet or pick
someone up.
Visitors can park in the
visitor lot for up to 2 hours
without a permit. With a valid
guest permit, visitors can park
in any regular student or staff
parking space. Visitor permits
are not valid in fire lanes,
disabled spaces (unless a valid
disabled placard is also
present), daycare 20 minute
zone, motor pool, reserved or
restricted spaces, motorcycle
parking,
dental hygiene, or automotive
guest lot.
No. If you are registered as
a student during the current
quarter, even if you are only
taking on-line courses, you
cannot get a visitor permit.
Students who do not have
quarterly permits must purchase
a daily permit each time they
come to campus. Daily permits
are only valid for student
parking lots.
No. If you are registered as
a student during the current
quarter, even if you don't have
classes every day, you are still
not allowed to park in the
visitor lot. A valid quarterly
permit or daily permit must be
on your vehicle, and you must
park in a student parking lot.
No. You are still a
registered student and must park
in student lots with a valid
quarterly or daily permit.
Yes. Every vehicle parked on
campus (with the exception of
visitors in the visitor lot
parked less than two hours) must
have a valid Shoreline permit.
This includes vehicles with a
valid disabled placard or plate.
Vehicles with a valid
disabled placard or plate AND a
valid Shoreline permit can park
in any student parking space and
regular staff parking if the
disabled spaces are full. You
cannot park in reserved or
designated spaces, such as
Dental Hygiene, Motor Pool,
Daycare, etc.
Staff permits are available
in the Security office, room
5102. If you are a full-time,
permanent faculty or staff
member, you can get a full-time
permit for your vehicle. The
permit is good for several
years.* If you have two vehicles
that you may drive to campus,
you can transfer the permit from
one vehicle to another. If you
are a part-time or permanent
employee, you can get a
temporary staff permit, which is
good for the current quarter.
Both types of permits hang from
your rear-view mirror and can be
placed in whichever car you are
driving on campus that day.
With a valid permit, you can
park in regular staff or student
parking. You cannot park in the
visitor lot, reserved or
restricted parking, dental
hygiene areas, motor pool, or
daycare parking (unless you are
dropping off or picking up a
child and are only there for 20
minutes - PCC permit is
required).
If you are also a student,
you need to purchase a student
permit or buy a daily permit at
one of the three entrances each
day you come to campus. You must
park in student parking. After
4pm, you can park in the staff
lots with a valid student
permit. If you are an hourly
employee and are not a student,
you can obtain a quarterly staff
permit through the security
office and park in student or
staff parking.
This means that you have
committed one or more parking or
moving violations on campus. If
you are a student, a hold will
be put on your record that
prevents you from registering,
adding or dropping classes, or
obtaining grades or transcripts.
If the ticket is not paid, it
will eventually be sent to
collection.
You have two options: you can
pay the ticket at the Cashier's
office in the 5000 building, or
you can appeal the ticket in the
security office, room 5102. If
you choose to appeal the ticket,
you must do it within five
working days of receiving the
ticket. You need to bring in
your yellow copy of the ticket
and fill out the form
completely. Anyone who receives
a ticket has the right to
appeal. No changes will be
considered on any ticket without
an appeal form. The person
filing the appeal will be
responsible for the amount of
the citation unless the citation
is suspended or dismissed. It is
the responsibility of the person
filing the appeal to check back
with our office (in person or by
phone) for the results. We do
not contact you.
If your fine is $50 or less,
the Security Director and/or
designee's decision is final. If
your fine is more than $50, and
after doing the initial appeal
in writing, you are not
satisfied with the results, you
may request a meeting with the
Vice President for Student
Services. The decision of the
Vice President for Student
Services is final.
If you have multiple unpaid
citations, your vehicle may be
wheel-locked until you pay your
fines. A $50 impound fee will
also be added. Your student
record will be on hold until all
fines are paid. If you don't pay
your ticket(s), you will
eventually be sent to
collection. The Security
Department also has the right to
revoke your parking privileges
on campus.
You must pay for any owing
tickets. If you are waiting for
the results of an appeal, you
must still pay for the ticket in
order to register, add/drop
classes, etc. If the appeal is
decided in your favor (citation
amount lowered, suspended, or
dismissed), you will be issued a
refund for the difference.
You must park in the
designated motorcycle parking
areas. They are located west of
building 1700, near the entrance
to the visitor lot (south of
1000), south of the lower level
of the 2000 building, east of
the 9000 building and directly
north of the gym (bldg 3000).
You do not need a permit, but if
you are parked in a space other
than a motorcycle area, you will
be cited.
No. You cannot park behind
another car, even if you know
the other person or have class
at the same time. Other people
will see this and assume they
can do the same because they
don't know your specific
situation. Before long, people
will be blocking in people they
don't know. This same rule
applies to staff/faculty. The
only area where people have been
given permission to park like
this is the staff area directly
in front of the music building.
You must purchase another
quarterly permit.
If your permit was stolen,
you must file a report with the
security dept and the police
department. If your stolen pass
is found on any vehicle on
campus, that vehicle will be
wheel-locked and issued a
citation for illegal use of a
permit. To obtain another
permit, you must take the police
report to the office of the Vice
President for Student Services
in the FOSS building.
A note or a dollar bill left
on your dash does not replace a
valid permit. Valid permits are
required on all vehicles on
campus Monday through Friday 24
hrs per day. Vehicles without
permits will be cited. If you
have a special circumstance, you
must come to the security office
to discuss it with an officer.
Exceptions may be made on a
case-by-case basis.
