Yakima Convention Center, Yakima, WA
Thursday – Saturday, April 22-24, 2010
October 20, 2009
Dear Colleagues,
We are seeking workshop presenters for the 20th
Annual Students of Color Conference sponsored by the
Multicultural Student Services Directors’ Council. This
year’s conference, "Generation of Change: We are the
Future!," will be held in Yakima, Washington, Thursday
through Saturday, April 22-24, 2010.
The Students of Color Conference brings together over
600 participants. Most are students of color who are
emerging leaders from Washington State community
colleges. The conference has evolved to provide students
with key concepts of identity development, leadership
skills, and essential resources necessary for
students of color to persist and achieve academic and
career success.
Workshop subject matter must relate to one of the
three sessions listed on the form:
- Awareness of Others,
- Cross-Cultural Communication and
Skills,
- Social Justice and Activism, and
- Personal Development
Please carefully review the
Call for Proposals Form.
If you would like to present more than one workshop,
please submit a separate form for each workshop.
Due to limited funding for the conference, we offer
an optional $150.00 stipend per workshop, to help offset
the cost of your conference participation as a presenter
(these costs may include parking, food, hotel, travel,
etc.). If you would like to attend the entire
conference, please contact us about registration
information and fees.
All proposals must be received by Friday, December 4,
2009, 5:00pm. See submission instructions on the form.
Everyone submitting a proposal will be notified of our
final decisions no later than December 31, 2009. If your
proposal is chosen, we will let you know the specific
time of your workshop and conference details. All
workshops will be scheduled for Friday or Saturday,
April 23 or 24, 2010.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact
Cecilia A. Martínez Vasquez at (206) 533-6618 or

Sincerely Yours,
