Associate in Science (AS)
This degree was first approved in the state of Washington in the
year 2000 and is designed for students interested in transferring to
a baccalaureate college or university in a science-related field. It
is part of the Associate in Science Transfer Agreement with all
public universities and with many private colleges/university. Two
educational tracks are available:
General Requirements
- Communication Skills
........... 8-10 credits
- Multicultural Education
............5 credits
- Quantitative Reasoning
............ 5 credits
Distribution Requirements
- Humanities
........................ 5 credits
- Social Sciences
....................5 credits
Track 1 only, an additional
- Humanities or Social
Sciences...... 5 credits
Pre-Major Program
50-59 credits of math, science, and/or engineering courses. Several
course sequences are required, including calculus and chemistry or
physics, and at least one additional course sequence as designated
by the intended major.
Detailed Planning Guides have been
prepared for many programs and universities for each of the
associate degree options. If a planning guide is not available,
students may consult with an academic advisor at SCC to develop an
academic plan.
