University Transfer Degree

Bachelor degrees are made up of approximately 180 credits and most have three different parts: general university requirements (breadth of knowledge), a major (specialization) and electives.

  • General university requirements (approximately 70 credits) usually include – English, Math, and courses in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Physical/Natural Sciences. (The University is made up of “colleges” which are broad areas consisting of a number of different “majors”).

  • A Major (generally 45 credits or more) is your chosen area of study – such as Business, Chemistry, English, History, Music, Psychology, Zoology, etc.

  • Electives (approximately 20 credits) are classes you take in order to pursue or explore an area of interest. They are taken in addition to your major and general university requirements, and count toward your total 180 credits.

Shoreline Community College can provide:

  • Half of the total credits needed to earn a Bachelor degree (90-93 credits)
  • Completion of most or all of the general university requirements
  • Most or all Major prerequisites and some Major requirements
  • Some Electives

If you earn your transfer Associate degree at Shoreline, you will be ready to complete the remaining 90 or so credits at a college or university to earn your Bachelor degree.
