Carli Edwards Memorial
Scholarship
The Carli Edwards Memorial Scholarship assists
Criminal Justice majors at Shoreline Community
College who are survivors of domestic abuse.
Financial assistance is provided toward the
purchase of textbooks. Scholarship is offered
fall, winter and spring quarters.
Corvette Marque Club of Seattle Scholarship
Check with the Automotive Department for
application, criteria and procedures.
General Application for
Assistance
For students who are experiencing temporary
financial stress, the Foundation may be able to
help you complete your education. Emergency
scholarships, grants and loans are available for
eligible students in financial need who show a
true commitment to their career goals and meet
certain criteria. Please check with the
Foundation office for more information.
Joseph Schultz Memorial Automotive Scholarship

Joseph Jex Martin Music
Tech Scholarship
Joseph Jex Martin was pursing a music tech
degree from SCC when he unexpectedly passed away
at the age of 24. This scholarship is intended
to provide SCC music tech students with
financial assistance in a time of need.
Ken LaFountaine First
Nations Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to provide First
Nations Students (students indigenous to the
Americas and associated territories) with
financial assistance in a time of need to
prevent disruption of their studies at Shoreline
Community College.
Michael Mitchell Voice
Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to provide SCC
music students with financial assistance in a
time of need.
Michael Thompson Fund
for Students with Disabilities
This fund provides financial assistance in a
time of need to students with disabilities that
might otherwise prevent disruption of their
continued studies at Shoreline Community
College.
Nell F Brown Emergency
Scholarship
This fund provides emergency assistance for SCC
Nursing students who are in dire need of
financial assistance. Please check with the
Foundation office for more information.

Academic
Excellence Scholarship for Graduating High
School Seniors
The Academic Excellence scholarships are
available to graduating high school seniors in
Washington State who are
enrolling at SCC for the 2010 - 2011 school year
and have demonstrated strong academic
performance, leadership qualities and
involvement in school and community activities.
Academic Improvement Scholarship for
Graduating High School Seniors
The Academic Improvement scholarships are
available to graduating high school seniors in
Washington State who are
enrolling at SCC for the 2010 - 2011 school year
and have demonstrated consistent, positive
academic improvement in the last three
semesters.
Beta Sigma Phi - Fine Arts Scholarship
This
scholarship is intended to attract, encourage
and assist talented students enrolled in the
Fine Arts programs at SCC. The award will be
given to outstanding fine arts students, full or
part-time.
Boeing Company Scholarship
This scholarship supports Shoreline Community College students who are pursuing a degree in manufacturing, engineering, information technology or business management.
Scholarships will be offered to SCC students who will be attending Shoreline Community College during the 2010-2011 year and meet the eligibility criteria.
Dorothy Ball Gough Scholarship for Women
Dorothy Ball Gough was a strong supporter of
Shoreline Community College. As stated by
Dorothy she was not fortunate to have children,
therefore, I had no expense putting a child
though school and this is my way of helping a
woman through school which I didnt have

This scholarship will be offered to a woman over
the age of thirty who plans to attend Shoreline
Community College during the 2010-2011 year and
who meet the eligibility criteria.
Dr. Bill Johnson Scholarship
Dr. Johnson was a professor of mathematics at
Shoreline Community College for 25 years. He had
a strong commitment to student success and was
always willing and available to help students in
the sometimes perplexing world of mathematics.
Award is for a student who has a strong emphasis
of study in mathematics or science.
Elizabeth R Thomas Alumni Nursing Scholarship
Elizabeth R Thomas began her career as an LPN,
graduated from Shoreline Community College in
1982 with an AA AS degree, and became an RN.
She continued her education at Seattle
University and was the first African American to
complete the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
program at the University of Washington School
of Nursing and the first one to work as an ARNP
in Seattle. Elizabeth was a pediatric nurse
practitioner at Odessa Brown clinic for over 25
years before her retirement. Due to Elizabeth
many contributions she has made in her practice
and throughout the district and state nurses
association, she was inducted into the WSNA
Nurses Hall of Fame in 2000. Scholarship awards
will be based on need, merit and commitment to
serving diverse communities and recipient's
potential in his/her nursing career.
Eric Niemitalo Scholarship in Earth and
Environmental Science
Eric Niemitalo was a student at Shoreline
Community College. He was working towards an
Associate of Science degree and planning to
transfer to a 4-year College to pursue a degree
in Environmental Science with an emphasis in
Geology. This scholarship is given in memory of
Eric to assist promising students to carry on
Erics dream and continue their studies in Earth
or Environmental Science (i.e. Geology,
Environmental Science, Geography or
Oceanography)
Friends of Mary Automotive Scholarship
The
Friends of Mary Automotive Scholarship was
established by the friends and family of Mary
Nelson, a Shorewood High School Graduate who
attended SCC. This scholarship is in memory of
Mary and her love of autos and provides
financial assistance to women in the automotive
program at Shoreline Community College.
Hugh S Cannon Foundation
Scholarship
This scholarship is funded by the generosity
of the Hugh S. Cannon Foundation to support
current SCC students at Shoreline Community College
who demonstrate financial need and will be
continuing their studies the next school year at
SCC. This is an
opportunity for SCC faculty to nominate a worthy
student. Six $2,000 awards are being offered.

Ina
Knutsen Scholarship
Ina Knutsen was the first female member of the
Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees.
Ina wanted to continue her strong commitment to
education and established the Ina Knutsen
Scholarship fund. Applicant must be a single
parent with a child/children under age 18 living
at home.
Joan Heeter Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Joan Heeter became a nurse after she attended
Olympic College in her fifties. Her husband
established this fund in memory of his wife
after her passing. This scholarship is for
nursing students and will be awarded based on
need and with preference given to midlife women
returning to school.
Joseph Wood Rogers Memorial
Scholarship
Joe Rogers was an associate faculty at
Shoreline Community College. He received his PhD
in electrical engineering, but his true passion
was mathematics. This scholarship is
for students who are planning to major in
mathematics and who will be continuing their
studies at an accredited
four-year college or university.
Linda Breiwick/MLT Program Scholarship
The Scholarship is available to one
Shoreline Community College Medical Laboratory
Technology student who will be continuing their
education at Shoreline during the 2010 - 2011
year.
Mallett Nursing Scholarship
Margaret Mallett was born in 1912 in North
Dakota. She came to the Northwest in 1923 and
graduated from Ballard High School in 1930 and
from the Seattle General Hospital School of
Nursing in 1933. Margaret passed away in
Seattle in 1989. This fund was established in
memory of Margaret by her son. This nursing
scholarship will be awarded based on need, merit
and community involvement.
Margaret Svec Scholarship
Margaret E. Svec was a member of the English
faculty at Shoreline Community College from
1964, when the college opened, until 1978. She
has won awards for her poetry and has been
published in magazines and journals. Since 1978,
Margaret has actively supported the Womens
Center as a presenter, mentor, advocate,
advisory committee member and donor. Recipient
must be a female student who demonstrates
financial need.
Mark Galloway Automotive Scholarship
This scholarship established in memory of Mark
Galloway, a Monroe High School and Sno-Isle Auto
Technician Training Program graduate and SCC
student; is offered to a graduate, or soon to be
graduate, of the Sno-Isle Auto Technician
Training Program who has been accepted into the
GM-ASEP program at Shoreline Community College.
SCC Foundation Peggy O'Coyne Memorial
Music Scholarship
The Peggy O'Coyne Memorial Scholarship, named in
memory of a beloved Music Department Secretary
was established to assist students who wish to
pursue degrees and/or careers in music.
Selected applicants will be asked to perform a live
audition piece
Ron
LaFreniere Business Scholarship
Ron LaFreniere was a professor of Business Administration at Shoreline Community College for over 35 years. Upon his retirement, Ron wanted to continue his strong commitment to student success and established the Ron LaFreniere Business Administration Scholarship.
SCC Full-Time Continuing Student
Scholarship
The Shoreline Community College Foundation will
offer scholarships to SCC students who will be
continuing their education at Shoreline during
the 2010 - 2011 academic year. These
scholarships are available for students who
demonstrate good academic performance and
involvement in school and community activities.
SCC Part-Time Continuing Student
Scholarship
The Shoreline Community College Foundation will
offer scholarships to SCC students who will be
continuing their education at Shoreline during
the 2010 - 2011 academic year. These
scholarships are available for part time
students who demonstrate good academic
performance while working
25 40 hours a week.
Shoreline Breakfast Rotary Presidents
Scholarship
This scholarship was established in the spirit
of Rotary International which is the worlds
first service club organization. Rotary members
volunteer their time and talent to further the
Rotary motto: Service Above Self.
Sonia O Kemp Nursing Scholarship
Established from the Sonia O. Kemp Charitable
Trust fund in 2009, this nursing scholarship
will be awarded to two Shoreline Community
College Nursing Students who display financial
need.
Study Abroad Scholarship
The Study Abroad Scholarship are for use
in the SCC Summer Institutes
and BAW Denmark Programs only and must be used in the year they are awarded.
Awards will be based on the
quality of the essay, resume and transcript. A
maximum of 5 awards will be made.

Tammi O'Brien Shanks Memorial
Nursing Scholarship
Tammi O'Brien Shanks
graduated from SCC's School of Nursing in 1996
and worked at Northwest Hospital as a surgical
nurse for 12 years. In 2001 she was diagnosed
with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The
hardest thing she ever had to do was to give up
her nursing career due to her disability. She
was patiently awaiting a lung transplant at the
time of her death. This scholarship
established in memory of Tammi by her family and
friends, will assist students in the Nursing
Program at SCC.
VIVA Hispanic Foundation NW Scholarship
The
VIVA Hispanic Foundation is committed to giving
Latino youth and families life long learning
experiences through a series of initiatives and
programs that enables them to become successful
and contributing citizens of our community.
These scholarships are awarded to students who
are of Hispanic descent and attend SCC.

Merit Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage
students who have demonstrated outstanding
potential to succeed. The student should believe
that the opportunity offered by a Shoreline
Community College education would be an integral
part of reaching educational goals.
SCC Music Scholarships
The Music Program at Shoreline Community
College offers significant scholarship awards to
music students. SCC music scholarships
honor the legacy of Peggy O'Coyne who was known
for her steadfast loyalty and support to
literally hundreds of music students. Selected
applicants will be asked to perform a live
audition piece.
