We have jocks and stands - just no fans
Kirsten Clark
Sports Editor
Mariner's baseball tickets: $36, Seahawks football tickets: $79, Sonic basketball tickets: $50, SCC any sport tickets: Priceless. Yes, to all you sports fans literally price-less. SCC is now making it wonderfully cheap and easy for you to attend any and all Shoreline sport games. This is a limited time offer so hurry up and make your reservations today!
OK this isn't really a limited offer nor has Shoreline just made this available, but these games really are free; all the teams want you to do is show up. Show a little support for these guys working hard at their sport.

Currently the lack of sport fans, well let me re-phrase, the lack of any fans at the SCC games is astounding. According to a few volleyball players, the only fans they get are other athletes, and they are usually just waiting to use the gym.
I remember back in high school, which was not long ago, all our sports teams rounded up tons of fans. Have we really become such a fast-paced self-indulgent society that we no longer care about some of the standout symbols of schools? Or are we just really that busy? Maybe we just don't read the paper to know when the games are. There are a million different reasons why we go to our classes and run like the wind off campus. I am here today to give you just a few reasons why I, and most of the athletes on campus, think you should attend games here.
First off, it is convenient. You are already here, right? Why not take a break from studying in our newly renovated library and get those creative juices flowing from watching a rousing game? Oh, I'm sorry; did you say that you are not on campus at the time of the games? Bring your rolling suitcase back to campus, cop a squat on the bleachers and cheer on your team. Maybe you will be able to find someone to help you with your calculus homework.

The Athletics & Intramural Office is sponsoring a mascot contest for
students.

Speaking of finding some help, you may also run into other people who share your interests. For example, people who like sports. Go and check it out, maybe you could get some of those people together for a few of the intramurals, or if you get enough, challenge one of the SCC teams to a game. These fans could use a few more people in the stands cheering them on; they are working hard.
According to our layout editor, Andrew Johnson, "The best reason to go to the games is you can see women in spandex." Which he believes for many men this is reason enough to attend many of the Shoreline games.
Finally, the last and still maybe most convincing reason, these games are free. You can share in the competitive spirit, the hard work and the thrill of victory for absolutely nothing. Get out of the house, go to the games and cheer these athletes on. They deserve it.
