I do not pay tuition so the administration can have new carpets

Dear Editor,

I am writing in concern to how my own student tuition is being poorly spent. I have been attending this community college on and off for the past six years as a theater major. I have seen some improvement over the passing years. An example is the finally remodeled library, which only took three years to complete and a fee of $20 per quarter while we had to wait another agonizing year in the P.U.B.

What really gets me upset, is how my tuition is being poorly misused. I was recently informed that the reason that the media projector was put off for two months was because the administrative office needed new "purple carpeting," which cost a whopping $47,000 before installation. The projector was funded strictly by students in the media and theater programs and is needed in numerous classes.

Because of this high priority of color of carpet, the school's facilities workers were not able to have this equipment installed. Not only did this set the projector installation back, the administration placed a hold on the recently revised library furniture and purchased cheaper chairs and tables to fill the void, or should I say gap, in the back of the library where there should be seats available for students.

The administration says "every student counts." To me it seems that the administration is only counting students. I want them to make up their minds on what is really important. Is it new purple carpet for offices or the true needs of students at this college?

Truly Pissed Off,

Russell Coffey
