BASEBALL FINISHES LONG SEASON WITH FOUR LOSSES: The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team finished a long season by being swept by Skagit Valley Community College in a four game NWAACC Northern Region series. On Saturday, the Cardinals handed the Dolphins a doubleheader sweep by the scores of 11-6 and a tough 2-1 loss. On Sunday, the home standing SCC squad fell again twice by the scores of 8-5 and 16-9. The Dolphins suffered through several one run losses early in the season to set the tone for the year and then a flux of injuries at the end, kept the Shoreline from being as competitive as possible. The Dolphins finished the year 5-35 for the season overall, with a 2-22 record in the NWAACC Northern Region. Final Northern League Standings:
Shoreline Softball Pounds Skagit Valley To Qualify For NWAACC Championship: The Shoreline Softball Team defeated Skagit Valley 15-0 in the first game of a doubleheader yesterday to clinch a play-off spot in the NWAACC Championship to be played in Portland, Oregon May 16-18. The Lady Dolphins dropped in the second game of the doubleheader 3-2. In the first game, the SCC Squad hit 6 home runs and pounded out 15 hits in a dominant offensive performance led by Christina Demuelenaere and Katie Fuller who hit two homeruns each and Athea Surface and Lindsey Cook who hit homeruns as well. Surface also pitched a 2 hitter for the Dolphins. In the second game, Emma Snow took the loss for Shoreline as they lost a tough 3-2 game. Athea Surface again hit a homerun to lead the SCC offense. The Lady Dolphins are in fourth place in the NWAACC Northern Region, but only 1/2 game behind Everett CC for third place. The SCC Squad plays Everett on Friday at Everett and then plays Bellevue on Saturday at the Un. of Washington Softball Stadium. SCC also has one make-up game with Olympic College to play as well but the date has not been set yet. Shoreline will open NWAACC Championship play on Friday, May 16th in Portland, Oregon against an opponent to be determined.

Shoreline Softball Team Sweeps Peninsula and Defeats Edmonds CC by Forfeit: The Shoreline Softball Team swept Peninsula CC on Friday, winning by the scores of 8-1 and 9-1. The pitching duo of Emma Snow and Athena Surface held the PCC squad to 7 hits over two games and Snow added two homeruns herself, one in each game to help the offense. Carrie Burnstine went 4-4 in the second the games. The Edmonds CC softball team could not muster enough players for today's doubleheader and has forfeited to Shoreline. Shoreline will actually travel to Skagit Valley today and play a postponed doubleheader against the Cardinals. The two victories against Edmonds assures SCC of a tie for the final playoff spot in the NWAACC North Region for the NWAACC Championship, starting May 16 in Portland Oregon. One more win by SCC or a loss by Skagit Valley and Shoreline will be going to the NWAACC Playoffs. Shoreline's final home game of the year will be played Saturday, May 10th against Northern Region Champion, Bellevue Community College and the doubleheader will be played at Noon at the University of Washington Softball Stadium.

Shoreline Baseball Team is Swept In Four Game Series With Douglas College: The Shoreline CC Baseball Team was swept in four games over the weekend by Douglas College, from New Westminister, Canada in a NWAACC Northern Region series. On Saturday at Douglas College, Shoreline was defeated by the scores of 6-3 and 7-3. On Sunday at Lower Woodland Park, the Dolphins were defeated by the scores of 5-0 and 8-1. The Dolphins finish the season next weekend with a four game series against Skagit Valley. The final home games is Sunday, May 11th against the SVC Cardinals with game time at 1:00 PM. Lady Dolphin Softball Sweeps Edmonds CC, Playoff Bid Looming: With 11 games to go, the Shoreline Community College Softball Team is in good shape to go to the NWAACC Playoffs. The team swept Edmonds CC yesterday, 12-4 in the second game and in the first game by Forfeit when Edmonds did not have enough players available at game time. Christina Demuelenaere led the Shoreline offense in the first game, going 2-3 with a double. This runs SCC's NWAACC Northern Region record to 14-11, 7 games ahead of Skagit Valley in the loss column for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northern Region. Shoreline plays its next 3 doubleheaders against teams lower in the NWAACC Northern standings and then finish the season with Everett and league leading Bellevue CC and has one make-up game with Olympic College. Shoreline Softball Wins First Game, Rained Out of Second Against Olympic: The Shoreline Women's Softball Team won the first game of a doubleheader with Olympic College 9-2 on Tuesday but the second game was postponed due to rain. The team hosts Peninsula Community College on Friday at 1:00 PM in the last game of the season at Shoreview Park. Green River Sweeps Shoreline In Tennis: NWAACC Tennis Power Green River Community College swept the Dolphins on Tuesday at Green River in a NWAACC Tennis Match. Both SCC squads lost 8-1. The Green River men's team is the defending NWAACC Champions from 2007. Matt Chavez was the lone singles (at #3 singles) victory for Shoreline during the day, winning 6-7, 7-6 and 10-4 in the tiebreaker. On the women's side, the team of Betty Wang and Kari Fiske at #1 Doubles won 8-5. Bellevue Sweeps Shoreline In Softball But Dolphins In Solid Position to Make NWAACC Tournament: The Northern Region leading Bellevue Community College Softball Team swept Shoreline CC on Friday by the scores of 11-7 and 7-6. The Lady Dolphins brought their hitting shoes to the games scoring 13 runs in the doubleheader, but they were unable to stop the BCC attack that banged out 29 hits in the two games. Katie Fuller and Emma Snow hit homeruns for SCC but it was not enough to upset the undefeated in Northern Region play BCC team. The Dolphins are 11-19 over all and 11-11 in NWAACC Northern Region play. The SCC Squad plays at home on Tuesday May 2 at 1:00 PM at Shoreview Park against Peninsula Community College.
Shoreline Baseball Is Swept In Four Games Over Weekend: The Shoreline Baseball Team was swept in four games over the weekend by Everett Community College. On Saturday at Everett, the Trojans won 4-2 and 4-1. On Sunday at Lower Woodland Park the Dolphins lost 5-4 and 9-2. The SCC Squad fell to 5-26 overall and 2-14 in the NWAACC Northern Region. The Dolphins play Douglas Community College next weekend in a Northern Region four game set with Shoreline on the road in Canada on Saturday and at home at Lower Woodland on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

Defeating Treasure Valley CC from Oregon 7-2 and winning a thriller over CC of Spokane 5-4 with Betty Wang winning a come from behind 3 set match to clinch the victory for the Dolphins.

Shoreline Softball Splits With Everett CC: The Lady Dolphin Softball Team split a doubleheader with Everett Community College on Tuesday, losing a tough pitching dual in the first game 2-0 and then exploding for 13 runs in the second game to overcome a 3-0 Everett lead in the first inning. In the first game, Athena Surface only surrendered one earned run in the game but the Shoreline bats were silent and the team fell 2-0. In the second game, Everett jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning but the Dolphins roared back and scored 13 runs lead by Christina Demuelenaere two doubles and Carrie Bunstine's three run triple off the top of the fence. Emma Snow was the winning pitcher for SCC. Shoreline maintained its fourth place standing in the NWAACC Northern Region and remains in the playoffs hunt as the Top Four teams in the region advance to the NWAACC Championship. Marcus Hudson Tosses No-Hitter For Shoreline Baseball: Left Handed Pitcher Marcus Hudson tossed a No-Hitter the Shoreline Community College Baseball Team on Sunday at Lower Woodland Park. He threw a complete game with 8 strikeouts as the Dolphins defeated Olympic College 8-0 to salvage the final game of a 4 game NWAACC Northern Region Series. In the first game on Sunday, the SCC Squad fell 5-4 in a hard fought battle that went into extra innings. On Saturday at Olympic, the Dolphins were defeated 8-6 and 8-1 in frigid conditions in Bremerton.

In the opening game slugfest, with both teams combining for 30 hits, the Dolphins fell short 9-8 with Emma Snow picking up the lost for the Dolphins Shoreline 8 Runs, 14 Hits, 1 Error Skagit Valley 9 Runs, 16 Hits, 4 Errors In the second game, Athea Surface held the Cardinals to 4 hits and hit a homerun herself to lead the Lady Dolphins to victory. SCC Tennis Splits With Skagit Valley: The Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team opened its 2008 season with a 7-2 victory against Skagit Valley on Wednesday. The undermanned women's team, fell 4-3 to SVCC to go 0-2 for the season. In the Men's Match, Wesley Abney, Anthony Vo and Justin Gilnick won in straight sets while Francis Roque and Shusetsu Toda won in hard fought 2-1 (sets) victories. The Dolphins also won 2 of the 3 double matches. In the women's match, playing with 4 players, the Lady Dolphins Karin Fiske and Maasa Tadokoro won their singles matches while the doubles team of Fiske and Betty Wang won in doubles but the greater depth of the Skagit Valley prevailed in the match. Shoreline Softball Sweeps Edmonds, In Battle for Third Place In NWAACC Northern Region: The Shoreline Community College Dolphins swept Edmonds Community College in a NWAACC Northern Region Doubleheader on Tuesday, winning the first game 8-0 and the second, 13-0. In the first game, Athea Surface hit two homeruns for the Dolphins and Emma Snow pitched a 3 hitter. In the second game, Athea Snow used her pitching arm to dominate the Tritons with a 1 hitter while the Shoreline bats pounded out 12 hits along with 5 ECC errors to lead to the rout.

Still In Playoff Hunt: The Shoreline Community College Softball team won three and lost three over the weekend and are still in fourth place in the NWAACC Northern Region. The top four teams in each of the four NWAACC regions advance to the NWAACC Championship in May. The weekend start out on high hopes as the SCC squad swept Peninsula Community College on the road in Port Angeles. The scores were 5-2 and 7-2 as the Lady Dolphins pounded out 20 hits in the two games. On Saturday, the Lady Dolphins split a doubleheader with Skagit Valley CC. Dropping the first game 6-1 to bouncing back to win a tough second game, 5-4. On Sunday, SCC faced Northern Region Leader, Bellevue Community College and were swept by the scores of 9-1 and 14-4. The BCC squad hit four homeruns in the doubleheader. Shoreline is now 7-7 in the Northern Region and 9-15 overall. The Dolphins face another busy week of games, they face Edmonds CC on Tuesday at home at Shoreview Park at 1:00 PM and then travel to Skagit Valley on Thursday and Edmonds again on Saturday at Edmonds in a rain make-up game. Edmonds Sweeps Shoreline In Four Games of Baseball: The Northern Region leading Edmonds CC Tritons swept Shoreline CC in four games this weekend. The injury ridden SCC squad put up a couple of good battles, but just didn't have the bodies to compete with the athletic Tritons. On Saturday, the Dolphins fell 10-0 and 5-4 and on Sunday, the scores were 11-0 and 5-2. Shoreline did hold a 2-0 lead on Edmonds, but couldn't hold it as the Tritons rallied to overcome the effort by the Dolphins. Shoreline now faces Olympic College next weekend in a four game set. The Dolphins travel to Olympic on Saturday and then host OC on Sunday at Lower Woodland Park at 1:00 PM.

Olympic College Sweeps Shoreline Softball: The Shoreline CC pitching staff could not stop Amy Renfrow from Olympic College who belted 3 homeruns in the doubleheader. In game one, Renfrow belted a three run shot in the first and a grand slam in the third to put Shoreline away in a 10-0 rout. In the second game, Renfrow belted another homerun to lead the Olympic squad to a 5-2 win. Shoreline record fell to 4-14 overall and 4-4 in the Northern Region. Olympic goes 7-5 overall and in the Northern Region. Shoreline is current in fourth place in the Northern Region, the final playoff spot and leads Skagit Valley by 2 games in the loss column. Shoreline faces Skagit Valley CC in very important region doubleheader on Saturday at home with 2:00 PM start at Shoreline Park. The Lady Dolphins also face Bellevue Community College in a doubleheader on Sunday, at 1:00 PM in rainout make up games.
Tough Day all around for the Lady Dolphins on Tuesday. A battle for fourth place in the Northern Region is set for Saturday against Skagit Valley Community College. Shoreline Baseball Takes One of Four from Bellevue: The Shoreline Baseball team was able to take one of four games from defending NWAACC Baseball Champions Bellevue Community College over the weekend. The Dolphins lost two close games to BCC, losing 3-2 to Bellevue in the first game of the four game set and 3-0 in the opening game at Shoreline on Sunday, and finally broke through with a 8-2 victory in the series final game. On Saturday, the SCC squad lost a heartbreaker to BCC, 3-2, with pitcher Phil Hackney throwing a complete game and the Dolphins outhitting the Bulldogs 5 to 4 but came up short by one run. In the second contest, Bellevue pounded SCC by the score of 15-3. At Shoreline's home field, Lower Woodland Park, on Sunday, the Dolphins were very competitive but faced one of the best pitchers in the NWAACC, Brad Reid from BCC, who handcuffed the Dolphins to only 1 hit. Nicky Jamison for Shoreline scattered 7 hits over 7 innings but Shoreline's offense had no answers for Reid's dominant performance. In the nightcap, Brennan Grubb limited BCC to 6 hits and the Shoreline offense produced 8 runs for the victory. Bellevue's record ran to 17-8 on the year and 6-2 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Shoreline is now 4-16, and 1-3 in the Region. Shoreline plays Edmonds Community College on Saturday, April 12 at Edmonds and Sunday, April 12, at Lower Woodland. Edmonds leads the NWAACC Northern Region with a 8-0 record and 20-2 record overall.

BUTCH ESTES IS NEW MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH Estes' File: Estes was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I East Carolina University and Rice University. At Presbyterian College in South Carolina, he led the Blue Hose to their best record and first national NAIA ranking. He then moved to NCAA Division I Furman University, where he won the Southern Conference title in 1991 and two second place finishes plus an NIT berth in 1991. He took the team at Guilford College (NCAA Division III) from a losing record to the conference playoffs in his second year as coach. Estes finished his head coaching at Miami-Dade Community College where he led the Sharks to a 27-5 record and conference championship in his third year. He then moved to the University of Miami (Florida) as an assistant coach and helped build the Hurricanes into a contender in one of the toughest basketball conferences in the country – they qualified for the NCAA March Madness. In the second game, Athea Snow was the tough loss pitcher allowing 6 hits in 7 innings of work. The Lady Dolphins are 4-12 on the season, but 4-2 in the NWAACC Northern Region which is good for third place in the 7 team league with the Top Four Teams going to the NWAACC tournament at the end of the year. In the second game, Athea Surface pitched a shutout as she only allowed 2 hits in the game. Emma Snow was the winner in the first game, allowing three runs on three hits plus she provided a 2 run double in the second game. Lindsey Cook and Kerri Wood had doubles for Shoreline in the first game. Shoreline will travel to Skagit Valley Community College at 2:00 PM on Friday and play Edmonds Community College at 5:30 PM on Saturday, March 29.

Baseball Rained Out, Next Up Is Spring Break Trip To Arizona: The Shoreline CC's Men's Baseball games against Western Washington were rained out on Sunday. The games will be rescheduled. The next games for the Dolphin Baseball Team will be in Arizona for their annual Spring Break trip. The SS Squad will face Mesa Community College, Grand Canyon University JV team and Glendale Community College. SCC has been "Snake Bite" so far this season, with a 1-10 record, 0-5 this season in one run games and 0-2 in two run games.
The SCC Baseball Team travels to Arizona next week to face a trio of opponents in their annual Spring Break trip. Shoreline Softball Falls Twice More at NWAACC Crossover: The Shoreline Softball Team was defeated twice more on Sunday in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament being held in the Tri-Cities area. The SCC Squad is now 0-10 on the year and will begin NWAACC Northern Region play next week. Shoreline will travel to Olympic College on Saturday, March 22 to open the NWAACC Northern Division season and then plays it first home game on Tuesday, March 25, against Peninsula CC at Shoreview Park with a 1:00 PM starting time. Shoreline Softball Losses First Two In NWAACC Crossover: Shoreline was defeated by Mount Hood Community College 8-0 and South Puget Sound CC 6-4 to round out the first day of action for Shoreline at the crossover. The Lady Dolphins are now 0-8 on the year and continue play in the NWAACC Crossover with two more games today.
The 2008 Lady Dolphin Softball Team - Won their first game of the season on Saturday with a 6-3 victory against Treasure Valley CC from Oregon. Shoreline Baseball Loses Two Slug Fests: After the previous weekend of close pitching duel losses, the Shoreline Community College Baseball Team suffered though two high scoring games where they fell just short again. The team lost to Tacoma Community College 9-8 and 12-11 in a doubleheader. In the first game, Shoreline scored 4 runs in the 8th inning to force the game into extra innings after a scoreless 9th, but Tacoma pushed across a run in the bottom of the 11th. In the second game, Shoreline jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half inning of play, but could not slow down the Tacoma attack as they produced 12 runs in 4 innings as the game was called due to darkness after the Top of the fifth and Shoreline trailing 12-11. The Dolphins fell to 1-10 on the season with 5 of those losses by 1 run and 2 losses by 2 runs. In the first game, the offense was led by Markus Miyashiro, 3-3 with a double, Erik Church, 2-5 and Griffen Sweazey 2-4 with a double. In the second game, Adam Hammer went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBIs.

On March 8th, the South Puget Sound CC softball team defeated Shoreline 7-3 and 4-0. Christina Demuelenere hit a homerun for the Shoreline.

Shoreline Goes 1-4 on Baseball Road Trip: The Shoreline CC baseball team gained its first win of the season with a 7-6 victory against Pierce Community College in the first game of a 5 game road trip. The Dolphins scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th to pull out the victory. The rest of the road trip did not go as well, as the SCC squad dropped 4 straight games to Linn-Benton and Clackamas Community Colleges in doubleheaders. The Dolphins showed improved pitching from the first weekend of games, taking two tight games into extra innings but the Shoreline offense lacked punch in crucial situations, only scoring 5 runs in 4 games. First Baseman Andy Racus was a force at the plate for Shoreline, going 7-16 (.437 batting average for the weekend) with 2 doubles and 3 walks.
